Author Visit Manjeet Mann

A lucky group of Year 9 students were treated to an extended workshop with famous author, Manjeet Mann, last week. Manjeet talked candidly about the inspiration for her powerful novels: ‘Run Rebel’ and ‘The Crossing’, her career as an actor and author, before inspiring students to plan and write their own scripts based on their life experiences. The students were able to benefit enormously from Manjeet’s experiences and expertise and Manjeet was very impressed by the creativity, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of our students, who asked profound questions that showcased their knowledge of the novel and forced Manjeet to really critique her writing. As well as writing novels, Manjeet writes plays and picture books, so it was fascinating to learn about how she constructs her stories for the different mediums. It was a very enjoyable experience for everyone involved and the students were a credit to themselves and our school.

A particular thank you to Budleigh Literary Festival for providing enriching opportunities for young people to learn from published authors. All students were gifted a copy of The Crossing and had the opportunity to get it signed by Manjeet.
