The Ten Tors trainees started their return to school early and were out again this weekend for another day’s training. We met on Friday afternoon and travelled to Sourton to pitch the tents. The evening was relaxed with a pub evening meal and a game of skittles; well it was still half term!

Camping was much more pleasant than the last night out with far less wind and rain. That said we had an equally early start at 6am and teams cooked up their breakfast and packed away to carry wet tents.

We had a short drive to Four Winds north of Princetown whereby two small teams set out on a north easterly loop walk of 22.2km. Great Mis, White Barrow, Rough and Beardown Tors as well as Lydford before heading back to Great Mis to complete our training. Both teams walked well navigationally and with speed. They also continued to support each other with their teamwork mentality. This was much needed as the walk was tough going due to the wet and soft ground. Mr Pounds can attest to the soft ground as he fell into a bog up to his knees. Ms Gibbs unfortunately wasn’t as wicked enough as other staff would have been to snap the photo. Apologies as we would have liked to uploaded this for your enjoyment.

Joking aside thanks to the staff and thank you to our dedicated trainees who took part during the half term’s break. You all deserved the long awaited sunshine we enjoyed as you all worked incredibly hard as you successfully bagged another great training camp and walk.
