Carnegie Shadowing Award and meeting author Candy Gourlay

Recently, some of our KS3 students got the opportunity to visit Queen Elizabeth school to take part in the Carnegie Medal Shadowing. They have been reading some of the books shortlisted for the prestigious Carnegie Medal for Writing and created a presentation on one book – Safiyyah’s War by Hiba Noor Khan. The students bravely presented their chosen book to 6 other schools from across Devon. They also had the opportunity to meet the inspiring Filipino author Candy Gourlay, ask questions and listen to a talk on her life and her writing. The students were absolutely brilliant, and we all had a fantastic time.
