Thomas Taylor Writing Competition

A group of 40 Year 7 students were selected by their class teacher to represent St Peter’s School at an online author event with the wonderfully imaginative writer and illustrator Thomas Taylor. During the workshop, Thomas mentioned that he would like to write a novel set in the summer months, titled Cheerie-on-Sea, so we set our Year 7 students a challenge to write their own opening for the novel.

The English Department thoroughly enjoyed reading a range of fantastically creative novel openings, full of mystery, excitement and adventure, and we would like to congratulate everyone who entered for their effort and creativity. It was very difficult to select a winner.

After much deliberation, we decided to award Isla J the winning entry, with Rosie B and Elsie M as very close runner ups and a special mention to Dorcas A for her wonderful character she created in her story. Well done for your success and we hope you all continue to enjoy writing creatively.
